A: The income requirements were increased for the 2011-2012 academic year. Now, the maximum household income is $72,000 for a family with one child and an additional $12,000 for each additional child in the household. For example, a household with one dependent child must have an income at or under $72,000 for the prior year; a household with two dependent children must be under $84,000; and a household with three dependent children must be under $96,000.
For families with special education students, the maximum income levels are determined by multiplying the standard maximum income level for their family by 1.50 if the student is not enrolled in a special education school, or by 2.993 if the student is enrolled in a special education school. Special education schools must meet the guidelines set forth by the Commonwealth.
